week 28 1/2 (2nd ed.)
So I'm late. No, not that kind of late. Well, actually, that kind of late as well. Very, very late in that regard. Anyway, I'm closer to Week 29 than 28 now but the picture belongs to 28 1/2 so we'll stick with that.
Total weight gain: About 21 pounds (confirmed by doctor's scale last Wednesday). One pound more than where I was last time. Feeling quite big already.
Movement: More of the same--still very active. He's big enough to hurt me now, which is fun. Gotta love it when you're talking and then sound crazy as you're disciplining someone who isn't even visible. Or, you know, able to be disciplined.
Cravings: Ho hum. Sweets. But trying to avoid them.
Similarities: Crazy dreams, baby brain, forgetfulness, lots of waking in the middle of the night, general discomfort.
Differences: Freakin' ridiculous sciatica. This started around Week 26 and was REALLY bad from Week 27-28.5. Luckily, it has since gotten slightly better. I had scheduled a chiropractor visit (even though I'm skeptical of them) but went ahead and canceled it after he moved. At least I have a referral if he decides to move back. Carrying lower. Loooower. Walking like a grandma--awkward and slow. And I'm burpy when I go to sleep. It's like I'm full of air that needs to get out.
Preparations: I've done some work on the quilt. It's totally pieced and I'm about 2/3 of the way done with the quilting. Then the binding and I'm done. Fingers crossed that I finish before he gets here. I also bought a few crib sheets for his daycare crib. And have done a little research on double strollers. That's about it.
Anything else interesting?: Had the 1-hour glucose test last Wednesday and failed. Went in yesterday for the 3-hour test. Same thing happened with the Chicken so hopefully I'll pass the 3-hour like I did with her. Also? We have an executed contract on our house and the new one. Eeek. Inspections for both are done. Then appraisals. Then, perhaps, exhaling. We'd be moving next month if all goes as planned.
Monthly wisdom/rambling: As has been said a million times before, no two pregnancies are the same. Don't count on anything going smoothly (or as smooth as it did last time). Things started better with this pregnancy but have gotten worse sooner. I wasn't this uncomfortable until my last 3 weeks with Chicken--after she dropped. I had read then that subsequent babies may not drop until you're in labor. I thought, "Great! That was the worst part." But I hadn't counted on this one riding low from the beginning. So don't wait to the last minute to get things done. I'm still hopeful that the recovery will go more smoothly this time around. Perhaps this little guy is giving me all the trouble up-front. We'll see.
