I'm sticking with the official topic today even though I think it will be hard given my 100 things list.

10 Things Most People Don't Know About Me

  1. I spent the summer when I was 7 with very little adult supervision. My dad was dying and my brother, two male cousins, and I spent a lot of time together. They were 5-7 years my elder. I was forced to watch lots of horror movies, the worst of which was Basketcase.
  2. I am a pretty rational person. I continue to watch horror movies at times. However, I am freaked out in direct correlation to how unrealistic the movie is. Chucky? Freaks me out the most.
  3. The name my birth mother gave me was Karen. I'm not a Karen.
  4. One day when I was driving home from college, it was such a beautiful sunny day that I drove without my shirt on and the sunroof open. That's probably illegal.
  5. When I was in high school my band director's wife hated me. She talked bad about me to ladies at church. She thought I was after her husband. I was not after her husband.
  6. I was always good in music/band. I was almost always first chair from elementary school through high school (and, no, not because of the band director). When I was in elementary school we had "challenges" to try to move up a chair. Everyone could only challenge once per class period, once per week. If I made it through the day without needing to use mine, I could challenge the teacher. Sometimes I won (but never actually got to be the teacher).
  7. I fold my underwear; I don't just stuff them in the drawer.
  8. If I had to have just one, I'd rather have a baby than a husband. I hope I don't have to have just one.
  9. I've had ideas about what my wedding would be like since I was a little girl. I've had a baby names for about 12 years. Both of those things seem really sad to me sometimes.
  10. One of my earliest memories is of Princess Diana's wedding. I think this may have set up some unrealistic expectations.

(If you haven't seen the video below, please don't let this post overshadow it. It is stinkin' hilarious. I think so anyway.)

I knew 1 through 7. Didn't know 8 to 10. Though one of those was a recent discussion I had with someone.

Chucky is the reason I don't watch horror movies to this day.

I, too, was good in band, and the director's wife didn't like me, either! Weird.

And I drove an MG Midget in high school and would cruise around with the top down and the straps of my tank top pulled down. Ha!

We used to drive around in bathing suit tops and shorts, so it looked like we were naked. Caused a guy to wreck his car once!

I was a band geek! But always 4th or 5th chair.

hey, would you like to see the nursery?

After a very productive week/weekend, the nursery is just about done. I think the only thing I want to do is whip up a simple padded headboard and Hubby needs to trim down the legs on a little footstool. That's it! Finally! So without further ado... This is what you see when you walk in the door. Too bad the baby won't be able to appreciate it right away. (And I'll apologize right off the bat for having some wonky-colored photographs in this post. I just don't have the energy to fix things. At least on my monitor, the above pic is roughly true-to-life.) Would you like to see that awesome rug a little better? Man, I love it. It was the one splurge for the room but it has such great colors, fun animals and designs, and is round. All my criteria were met. Love. Here's the corner with the crib.
