impeding progress

I tried to find a dress today. I went to several stores in the mall. I tried on many, many dresses all to no avail. Why is it that when you are shopping for a particular clothing item you can never find it? I have so much better luck when I'm just browsing for whatever. So, anyway, black dresses are available to make you look like a whore, like an old lady, or like you're going to prom. And apparently it's popular to have sort of an empire waist but instead of being fitted through your real waist area, it just balloons out making even thin-ish girls look a little portly. I may have to break down and do the skirt/blouse combo.

Between whore, old lady, or prom, I'd go with prom....or somewhat-classy-whore. ;-)

I know exactly what you mean - when you don't have the money to buy anything, you see everything in the world that you want, but the moment you need something or have money to spend, there's nothing to be found! What's up with that??

how much money did you spend on everything else you ended up finding in place of the dress??? :)

I didn't. I was on a mission. Actually, I did buy Bath & Body's gradual self tanner. Word on the street is that is doesn't make you smell funky like normal self tanners.

I can vouch for the Bath & Body gradual self tanners. (I think I'm "word on the street".) They come in a choice of tantilizing scents (I favor the Energizing Verbena scent), leave a very subtle shimmer when applied, does not make your skin smell funky, and it does NOT turn you orange! I have sensitive skin, and it does not do bad things to my skin. It's a great product.
I've got to try that B & B self tanner! I love B & B products anyway!

Now *I* am shopping for a dress for a wedding - except I'm IN the wedding. It has to be chocolate brown. The bride is looking at a style with an empire waist. I may look like the pregnant Matron of Honor (any time I wear anything with an empire waist, Tactful Hubby says it looks like maternity clothes).

I love chocolate brown. Too bad you don't have much of a choice with styles. There are tons of cute brown dresses out there. Mocking me...
Found a cute one today at Moley's (that's what Bubba's Mom and I are calling Macy's/Foley's right now, because it's in-between). Big bonus - got it on sale for $68! And it fits!! It's a shopping miracle!
