frankly, my dear...

or, maybe, "reasons why I'm single." Regardless, here's how my day went down yesterday. I slept in (hallelujah!), read some magazines, and went to Wal-Mart. I hate Wal-Mart. I could write paragraphs on why but the reason I went is that sometimes saving money just wins out over getting joy from shopping. I guess it's a different kind of joy. Anyway, so after Wal-Mart I cooked dinner (a new recipe from Real Simple).

Then my brother and I ended up watching Gone With the Wind. Now, a little history...this was Mom's favorite movie and book. How often does that happen these days? The movie versions are often terrible. Or, like Forrest Gump, you wonder how they pulled anything redeeming from so crappy a book. But Gone With the Wind, sigh, it's dreamy. I love the soft lens. Not that Vivien Leigh wasn't amazingly beautiful anyway. I wish we could all be shot on a day-to-day basis with the soft lens.

As we were growing up we watched this movie whenever possible. Mom sorta forced us. Now here's the deal (and I was thinking about this last night). We had to wait for the movie to come on regular network channels. This was before I had been introduced to cable. (We lived in the country and did not have cable access and could not afford those ginormous satellite dishes.) This was before VCRs, or at least before everyone had one. Before video stores. It was a big commitment to watch a 3 hr 45 min. movie with commercials. Regardless, I've always loved the movie, too. My brother, as I found out last night, never paid attention. I mean, even to major story lines. So it goes...

My favorite line in the whole movie? Not the really famous ones but this, spoken by Captain Butler to his dear Miss Scarlett: "You should be kissed and often. And by someone who knows how." Sigh...

soft lens, hmmm, that would be nice. I saw a tv special last night that says with the advent of HD TV, actors now have to have special surgical procedures (and often) to be seen in that medium. Ah, the price they pay to be beautiful, famous, rich, yada yada.
LOVE GWTW! Best movie ever! I remember the days when it came on network television - it was an event to look forward to! I would like to be shot thru a soft-lens every day, too.

My motto: "I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy! I'll think about that tomorrow."
P.S. I hate WalMart, too.

I am choosing to be "anonymous" because I have yet to dive in to the blogger world and create my own identity. But I suppose this reply could be considered dipping my artless toe in to test the water. Anyways, can you guess who I am? I HATE WAL-MART TOO. They (the employess) while you are looking at an end cap 5 feet from your shopping cart take the items, you have spent time finding, out of YOUR buggy and put those items on some random near by shelf instead of taking their lazy butt up to the front to get a freaking cart for another customer. Need I say more? (maybe it is better that I remain anonymous) If they can take your items without regard, what else are they capable of????
